How do I refer to my survey from an invite template?

An invite template in Spotler FeedbackPro can lead respondents to your survey in two ways: with a button that opens the survey, or by showing the first question of the survey directly in the email. Invite templates are managed under Settings Invite templates.

Before you start

Open the template you want to edit under Settings Invite templates, or create a new one first.

Option A: link to the survey with a button (default)

Every new invite template starts with the standard Spotler layout, which already contains a question and a button, for example Would you recommend us? with an invitation to share an opinion by clicking the button. When the respondent clicks the button, the survey opens and they answer the first question there. No changes are required for this to work; only the texts need to be adjusted to match the survey.

Option B: show the first question in the email

With the First question block, the first question of the survey is shown inside the invitation email itself. The respondent answers it directly from their inbox and continues in the survey from question two onwards.

  1. Open the invite template.
  2. Click the blocks icon (the grid of squares) in the top-right corner. This opens the list of modules that can be added to the email template.
  3. Drag the First question block into the template, to the position where the question should appear.
  4. Delete the original block containing the button, so the email does not refer to the survey twice. Select the block and use the delete option.
  5. Save the template.

The first question can't be an open question

The invite template always pulls in the first question of the survey, and an open question or a text page cannot be displayed in the email. Make sure the survey starts with a closed question, such as an NPS, rating, or multiple-choice question.

The first question of the survey is now shown in the invitation email, and clicking an answer takes the respondent straight into the rest of the survey.

Not sure which option to use? A button works for every survey and gives full control over the email layout. The First question block leads to a higher response rate, because respondents have already started before they leave their inbox.
